We represent the FUMECOOP, Mexican Foundation for the Social Economy and the Cooperative Culture, a non-profit organization which aims the promotion and development of the social economy in Mexico, in particular, by means of cooperative societies of various kinds, with a national presence.
Concerned about the serious problems that Mexico is facing, in terms of unemployment, permanent migration to United States and Canada, violence of criminal organizations, decrease of family income, lack of opportunities for young people and college graduates, etc. we have decided to engage in various actions to combat this situation from organized society and the social economy.
Therefore, we extend an invitation to participate in the first North American Social Economy and Solidarity Forum: Cooperative Society as a Strategy for Sustainable Development to be held on 28 and 29 July 2011 in Ciudad Juárez, Chihuahua, Mexico.
There are a number of economic, cultural and social characteristics that provide a special dynamic to the economic development of the region, which, considering this situation, and based on the cooperative principles and universal values, we think we should create exchange and economic conditions and social links between the organizations in this sector, with presence within Mexico, the United States and Canada
The purpose of this invitation is, of course, to establish the first contact and to create opportunities for collaboration, without any initial commitment. This meeting will take place in one of the most representative cities of the border of our country, which demands the solidarity and the proposed organized society. We want you to become organizers of the Forum and to collaborate with the invitation of interested individuals and organizations in your country, and participate as public speakers at the Forum.
We know this is an excellent opportunity to establish a good relationship with you, which may result in the benefit of the sectors located in the social economy of the three countries.
